Angkor was the capital city in the Khmer Empire from the 9th-15th centuries, a period that is considered the classical era of Cambodian history. During this period, its rulers used their vast resources of labour and wealth to carry out a series of prodigious construction projects designed to glorify both themselves, their gods and their capital city. This included the construction of the famous Angkor Wat temple, considered to be the largest religious monument in the world. The Angkor necklace was inspired by the many rounded stones and relief carvings present at Angkor Wat, an impressive, beautiful and inspiring place.
